Do I need a referral to see Sports Lab podiatrists?
No not necessarily. Although our clinic is private, our patients and clients are able to claim on the spot through the Hicaps system from their private health insurance (if covered for podiatry).
Our services also cater for returned soldiers or their widows on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs (gold card holders). These individuals do require a referral from their General practitioners who fill out a DVA specific form (D904 form) before consultation.
Currently Medicare provide rebates for allied health consultations/visits for patients with chronic and complex conditions (such as diabetes, chronic arthritis peripheral vascular disease or cataracts) who are being managed by their general practitioners under a Chronic Disease Management. On the spot rebates are available through the use of the Hicaps system and your Eftpos (cheque or savings) accounts or you can take your receipts to the Medicare office for a rebate.
