Frequently asked questions

When making an appointment to come to Drummoyne as a private patient, no referral is required. However if you are receiving treatment from a service provider (Veterans Affairs, Medicare, Workers Compensation or Third Party) a referral from your doctor will be required at the time of appointment.

Veteran Affairs

All Veteran Affairs gold card holders are eligible to receive podiatry services. The cost of services will be bulk billed directly to the Department of Veteran Affairs. You are required to get a D904 referral form from your GP. Some white card holders may be eligible depending on your doctors advice.

Medicare (Enhanced Primary Care Plan)

You are eligible to receive podiatry treatment under Medicare if your doctor deems you eligible. Generally, you have to be suffering from a chronic condition or have an incapability of caring for your own feet. This a Federal Government funded initiative which allows eligible patients to be referred with a maximum of 5 podiatry visits in a given year. You will be required to pay a set fee at the appointment and you then claim back the scheduled fee. If you pay using cheque or savings accounts via EFTPOS and and you present your medicare card we can process your rebate/refund at the time of consultation otherwise rebates can be received from any Medicare office on producing your receipt with the appropriate documentation. We do NOT bulk bill & this is NOT a free service.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Workers Compensation / Third Party

You can be referred by a doctor, employer or case manager, from the appropriate insurance company, for advice and treatment from Drummoyne podiatry or Sports Lab. You must have a claim number, referral and a pre-approval for your initial appointment. Further treatment can be arranged by your Podiatrist depending on what is required.

Private Health Funds

HICAPS is available at Sports Lab. This will allow you to make an on-the-spot claim to your health fund and you will only have to pay the remaining gap at the time of appointment. This will save you having to claim directly you’re your health fund at a later time. Approximately half of the consultation fee will be covered, sometimes more and sometimes less. You are responsible for enquiring about your level of cover and whether your fund is covered under HICAPS prior to your appointment.

Modes of Payment

Drummoyne Podiatry as part of Sports lab accepts Cash, EFTPOS, most major Credit Cards (including Amex), or Cheque. All appointments and gaps must be paid for at the time of consultation.
